The Westerturm was built as one of at least eight gate towers of the fortress wall in the German city of Duderstadt. This particular tower has a very distinctive twisted spire.

Like the Westerturm spire itself, these socks feature a distinct twist that travels up the leg in an easy to memorize 8 row pattern repeat of knits and purls.

The pattern includes written instructions for toe up and cuff down construction with two needles using the Magic Loop method but any circular knitting method can be used. Instructions are given for a short row toe and heel.

This pattern has been professionally tech edited and test knit.
