This is a pattern for a lovely cosy cowl made using the attractive Larksfoot stitch.

It’s made using aran weight yarn, I have used Simply Aran by Paintbox yarns, which is a 100% premium acrylic yarn.

The pattern is for a cowl in three different colours but you could use as many colours as you like, as long as it’s more than 2, so that the beautiful stitch can be seen, You will need 50-70 grams of your main colour and about 40g each of the other colours. ( I had three 100g balls to start with and had left overs from each one.)

I used a 5mm hook for the pattern, Before starting, I did a tension square; over 4 inches there were 16 treble crochet (uk terms) stitches and 9 rows. You may want to check your tension before you begin and go up or down in hook size accordingly if it is different to mine,

The finished cowl measures 11 inches wide and 8 inches in height. However, my pattern testers measurements varied slightly.

There are handy photos included in this pattern which help to demonstrate the Larksfoot stitch :)
