Wheat-Ear Cable Yoke
Pattern Description from Interweave Knits, Summer 2007 “Pam Allen likes to contrast knitted textures with smooth stockinette. In her raglan pullover, a sleek bodice and sleeves flow into a yoke of delicate cables. The cable patterns - a two-stitch twist alternating with a seven-stitch wheat ear - are more etched than sculptural. They add decoration without bulk. Wear the yoke as shown, or slide it down to reveal a little shoulder.”
“’I like knitting a yoke, round or raglan, on a circular needle. For the Wheat-Ear Cable Yoke Pullover, I worked raglan decreases because I wanted to keep the vertical pattern intact; I didn’t want the lines to taper toward the neckline. I also wanted the yoke pattern to dip into the bodice, so I started the cable pattern a few inches below the armhole.’”
