When the Brain Hurts
The inspiration behind the name of this pattern was the really shitty week I was having when I started this pattern. I needed something simple to work on, and the complicated lace shawl wasn’t cutting it.
This shawl is worked from the bottom up, beginning with a provisional cast on. The shawl can be worked in any weight of yarn and to the size desired.
The body of the shawl is worked in garter stitch with a simple lace border on each side. There is some patterning on both sides of the border.
Yarn: This shawl can be worked in any weight to the desired size. 3.5 to 4 ounces (100-110g) should be sufficient for a shawlette in most weights. Less yarn would be needed for laceweight, but more for bulky and super bulky. My preference is for a wool or wool blend.
Needles: Size needed to achieve desired fabric , about 2-3 sizes larger than indicated on the ball band.
Gauge: Doesn’t matter. Work the one repeat to start the shawl, if you like the fabric, continue. If you don’t like the fabric, change the needle size.
