Whisper of Spring Sock
Inspired by the festival of Imbolc/Candlemas (early February), there are candle-flame inspired cables as well as snow-drops with beads to represent the glistening snow. This sock is knitted from the top down, featuring cables, slipped stitches, beads and a small amount of lace. The heel is contoured around the back and hugs the arch. The sizes are Women’s small (medium, large) - 7, (8, 9 ) inch 18 (20.5, 23) cm ankle. I used Miss Bab’s Yummy 2-Ply yarn in White Peppercorn - I highly recommend using a solid/semi-solid color yarn, but it is not essential, if you prefer. I also use beads that blend and add a slight shiny accent rather than stand out, but again, this is up to you. I also highly recommend using 1 or 2 circular needles (I used Magic Loop), due to shifting stitches. I am happy to help with questions regarding this technique as well as beading.
Tools: US 1 /2.25 mm needles of your choice for sock knitting, 4 stitch markers, cable needle (optional), Seed Beads (48 (48, 60) size 6/0 or 8/0), crochet hook or other tool to place beads on the yarn, darning needle, tape measure
Materials: 300 - 400 yards fingering-weight sock yarn
