Sizes: 1 (2)
Finished Measurements: 100 (173) cm / 40 (68)” wide x 52 (84) cm / 20½ (33)” deep
Model wears size 2
Yarn: The Uncommon Thread Merino Silk Fingering (4 ply / fingering weight; 50% superwash merino, 50% silk; 400 m / 440 yds per 100 g skein)
Shade: Fjord; 1 (2) skeins
Gauge: 20 sts & 32 rows = 10 cm / 4” over stocking stitch on 3.5 mm needles after blocking
Needles: 3.5 mm / US 6 circular needle, 100 cm (40”) length – we recommend needles with pointy ‘lace’ tips for this shawl
Always use a needle size that will result in the correct gauge after blocking.
Notions: 2 stitch markers Notes: For the entirety of the shawl, you will always work the first 2 and last 2 stitches in garter stitch (knit on RS, knit on WS). For all rows other than the Garter Eyelet rows, the marked centre stitch is worked in stocking stitch (knit on RS, purl on WS). You may find it helpful to insert stitch markers between pattern repeats when working through the charts; you will need to remove these when working the Garter Eyelet rows. Charts should be read right to left on RS rows and left to right on WS rows.
Original sample shown in The Uncommon Thread Silky Merino Fingering (now discontinued) in the colour Brassica.
