“Wiener Herz” is a semi-circular shawl knit in one piece.
It is worked sideways and shaped with German Short Rows. Because it is knit in garter stitch, the shawl and the simple lace that decorates it are totally reversible. The i-cord border adds structure and stability to the work.
I have a strong bond with the city of Vienna: I studied and worked there when I was younger and I go back every chance I get. I can truly say that Vienna has remained in my heart and I wanted to pay homage to this beautiful city with a lace pattern replete with little hearts.

Finished measurements:
190 cm – 74 ¾ inches along the longer edge and 58 cm – 22 ¾ inches along the center section (after blocking).

Yarn and needles:
LANG YARNS Baby Alpaca (Fingering yarn; 100% alpaca: 170 m – 185 yds / 50 gr – 1.76 oz. skein): 4 skeins (680 m – 744 yds).
Needles: 3.5 mm – US 4.
If necessary, please adjust needle size to obtain the specified gauge.
Other:
1 stitch marker.
Tapestry needle and scissors.
Pins and a tape measure for blocking.

Gauge:
18 sts and 30 rows = 10 cm – 4 inches in garter st (after blocking).
Gauge is not crucial for this shawl. However final blocking is essential to achieve the full length of the shawl and to allow the lace stitches to “open up”!

“Wiener Herz” è uno scialle semicircolare realizzato in un unico pezzo. È lavorato da un’estremità all’altra ed è modellato con i ferri accorciati alla tedesca. La maglia a legaccio rende lo scialle ed il semplice pizzo che lo decora totalmente reversibili. Il bordo I-cord dona struttura e stabilità al lavoro.
Sono molto legata a Vienna: ho studiato e lavorato qui durante la mia giovinezza e ci torno ogni volta che posso. Per questo posso dire tranquillamente che Vienna è la mia città del cuore e ho voluto renderle omaggio con questo pizzo la cui forma ricorda, appunto, dei cuoricini.

Misure finite:
190 cm lungo il lato più lungo e 58 cm lungo la parte centrale (dopo il bloccaggio).

Filato ed aghi:
LANG YARN Baby Alpaca (100% alpaca: 170 m per gomitolo da 50 gr): 4 gomitoli.
Ferri numero 3.5 mm.
Se necessario modificare il numero degli aghi per ottenere il campione corretto.
Altro:
1 marcapunto.
Ago da lana e forbici, spilli e metro da sarta per il bloccaggio.

Campione:
18 m x 30 f = 10 cm lavorati a maglia legaccio (dopo il bloccaggio).
In realtà il campione non è molto importante. E’ essenziale, invece, la fase finale del bloccaggio per permettere allo scialle di allungarsi fino alla sua misura finale e per permettere al bordo in pizzo di “aprirsi”!

“Wiener Herz” ist ein halbrunder Schal, der in einem Stück gestrickt wird.
Es wird von einem Ende zum anderen gestrickt; verkürzte Reihen mit doppelten Maschen (German Short Rows) verleihen ihm seine Form. Da er kraus rechts gestrickt wird, sind der Schal und sein einfaches Spitzenmuster doppelseitig verwendbar. Der mit i-cord versehene Rand verleiht dem Stück die nötige Stabilität.
Ich bin mit der Stadt Wien stark verbunden: Als ich jünger war, habe ich dort studiert und gearbeitet und besuche dieses Stadt immer wieder sehr gerne. Ich kann wirklich behaupten, dass ich Wien in meinem Herzen trage, daher habe ich zu Ehren dieser wunderbaren Stadt ein mit kleinen Herzen verziertes Spitzenmuster entworfen.

Endmaße:
190 cm entlang des längeren Randes. Mittlere Höhe: 58 cm (nach der Spannung).

Garn und Nadeln:
LANG YARNS Baby Alpaca (Fingering-Garn; 100% Alpaka: 170 m / 50 gr pro Knäuel): 4 Knäuel (680 m – 744 yds).
Nadeln: 3.5 mm. Testen Sie ev. verschiedene Nadelstärken, um die Maschenprobe zu treffen.
1 Maschenmarkierer.
Wollnadel und Schere.
Stecknadeln und Maßband zum Spannen.

Maschenprobe:
18 M und 30 Reihen = 10 cm glatt rechts gestrickt (gespannt).
Die Maschenprobe ist für diesen Schal nicht wesentlich. Die Spannung ist jedoch sehr wichtig, damit der Schal seine Endlänge erreicht und damit der Spitzmuster völlig zur Geltung kommt!
