Wild Wind is an open-lace tee made for summer. Light, airy, and worked in two simple panels, it’s the kind of knit you’ll want to finish fast so you can wear it everywhere: over a bikini, to a festival, or anywhere the warm weather takes you.

Crop it or lengthen it, add fringe or keep it simple, the icord bindoff makes a tidy edge on it’s own. Wild Wind is straightforward to knit and easy to wear.

Design Details

Wild Wind is a breezy, open-lace crop top designed for warm days and easy living. The airy lace fabric drapes beautifully and gives the finished piece that effortless, lightweight vibe, perfect as a beach cover-up, a festival top, or thrown over a bikini on a summer afternoon.

The wide, relaxed silhouette is designed with generous ease so it skims and floats. An I-cord neckline edge gives a clean, polished finish that lets the lace do the talking. Optional fringe at the hem adds a playful, bohemian touch if you want to lean into the summer vibes.

Pattern Highlights

  • Open lace fabric in fingering weight yarn
  • Adjustable body length from cropped to longer coverage
  • Optional fringe finish
  • Two panel construction that’s easy to follow

Construction Overview

Wild Wind is worked flat in two identical top down panels (front and back), then seamed along the sides and shoulders. The neckline is shaped as you knit and finished with an i-cord edge.

After assembly, the garment is blocked and optional fringe may be added.

Yarn Notes

We knit our sample in Miss La Motte Merino Singles, a single ply fingering weight yarn that pairs especially well with open lace. The subtle halo softens the fabric while the stitch definition keeps the lace pattern clear and visible.

Fiber: 100% Superwash Merino
Yardage: 400 yd / 100 g

Any fingering weight yarn with good drape will work well for this design.
