Wildfire Shawl
New: Video Tutorials and all KnitCompanion functionality available in my App!
Choose your own adventure. The body of this shawl is worked in the Scalloped Shell pattern, which is a variation of Feather and Fan. To simulate the ever changing environ- ment of the Rocky Mountains, you work the shawl with random sets of short rows, creating a unique design with color blocks and stripes that undulate in a way that reminds me of the natural landscape of the Colorado Rockies.
The flame edgings are added after the body of the shawl is complete. The flames are also worked in a random arrangement, and each knitter will have a different experience and a different result, just as every fire we have in the Rockies has a different cause and creates havoc on the natural environment as well as on the people who live in the region in a unique way.
