Wildflowers in the Winter is a combination crochet and knit short-sleeved sweater with A-line shaping, incorporating classic granny squares, knitting in the round, mirrored bar (KFB) increases, seed stitch, stockinette stitch, and picking up stitches.

LEVEL: Intermediate

MATERIALS
Granny Square Section
Yarn: 500-600 yards Variegated worsted weight yarn (We used Universal Yarn Poems Silk Color 800 Wildberry)
Hook: US 7 (4.5 mm) (or hook needed to achieve gauge.)

Knitted Sections
Yarn: 1320 (1400, 1450) yards worsted weight yarn (We used Cascade 220 Heathers Color 2449 Peony Pink Heather)
Needles: US 7 (4.5 mm) circular needles 16”, 24” and 32” long and needles in preferred style for small circumference knitting in the round

Stitch markers
Scrap yarn to use as stitch holders

GAUGE:
Crochet Gauge: Each Granny Square measures 2¾“ square
Knit Gauge: 18 sts and 22 rows = 4” in St st

Fit: This garment is intended to be worn with 4-6” of ease at the bust for a loose, comfortable fit.

ABBREVIATIONS & TERMS:
Ch – chain
Dc – double crochet
K – Knit
K2tog – Knit 2 stitches together. 1 st decreased.
Kfb – Knit Front and Back: First knit into the front of the stitch, leaving it on the left needle, and then knit into the back of the same stitch before slipping it off the left needle. 1 st increased.
Mkfb – Mirrored Knit Front and Back: First, reorient the stitch as follows: slip the st knitwise, then slip the st back to the left needle purlwise. Next, knit into the front of the stitch and take it off the left needle. Using the left needle, pick up the loop (from left to right) below the stitch you just knit, and knit into the back of that loop. 1 st increased.
P – Purl
PM – Place marker.
Sl – slip
SM – Slip marker/stitch marker.
Sp – space
