William
William is one of 16 glorious designs in Stranded Knits, a superb technique manual and pattern collection that Ann created for Rowan Yarns. The book is available from Rowan stockists.
The stranded colourwork design is adapted from the lovely Brother Rabbit pattern by English ‘Arts and Crafts’ designer, William Morris.
The tension given above is for plain stocking stitch after blocking, knitted on the larger needles. Tension/gauge for the stranded colourwork is 28 stitches and 30 rounds per 10cm/4” after blocking, knitted on the smaller needles.
Neckline adjustment:
The ebook and PDF pattern include guidance for adjusting the neckline for a higher, closer fit. They also include illustrated tutorials for the colourwork knitting techniques used, and for a crochet provisional cast-on.
If you have the print book, and wish to adjust the neckline, you can find the guidance here.
