Winding Paths headband
This headband/earwarmer tapers to the back and is closed with a button. This means no bulk at the nape of your neck and you can take it on and off without destroying your hair by pulling the headband over repeatedly.
The combination of a simple cable with “faux” twisted stitch cables provides a piece that looks complicated but is actually quite easy and appropriate for a first cable project. A small chart is provided for those who enjoy using charts, but the entire pattern is written out for those who do not.
My original prototype was knit in Debbie Bliss Alpaca Silk, which has unfortunately been discontinued. Luckily I was able to find a luxurious substitute with Louisa Harding Thistle.
I am certain that there are many other suitable substitutes, what you need to look for is a heavy weight yarn in the Aran
range with a good bit of loftiness and ideally a fuzzy halo (yay alpaca).
