Octagonal windmill motifs are joined together with two other shapes to make this delicate knitted mat which can be used on a dressing table or as a table centre. A deep edging, knitted separately and attached after all the motifs have been joined, completes the mat.

The mat can be made larger or smaller, or the motifs and edging can be worked in heavier cotton to make a cot cover or bedspread.

Suitable for the experienced knitter, this design uses a variety of techniques including circular knitting on a set of double-pointed needles.
