Wingéd Postmaster Socks
The Wingéd Postmaster Socks are inspired by the book Going Postal, part of Terry Pratchett’s much-loved Discworld series, in which charming con man Moist von Lipwig becomes the very reluctant new postmaster of the nearly defunct Ankh-Morpork Post Office.
The socks are worked from the toe up, with a short-row heel using shadow wraps. The criscrossing twisted-stitch patterns on the instep represent Moist’s plots and schemes, and the wings at the ankle resemble the ones on his gold postmaster’s hat. On the leg the instep patterns turn into twisted ribbing, suggesting that he’s reformed and gone straight – but there’s still one sneaky little cable up the center back…
