Wings and Wonder
The inspiration for this design came from one of my own patterns: the Shadow Dance shawl, which was made using the illusion crochet technique with Scheepjes Whirl.
For this blanket, I used a different technique and a different yarn, but the theme of butterflies and nighttime remained.
I chose three Colour Crafter Parade shades for the butterflies and a deep night blue Colour Crafter for the background.
The yellow Parade yarn was used to create stars.
The story behind this blanket is rooted in the idea that we often think of the brightly colored butterflies resting at night, while the mysterious moths take over.
But what if they don’t sleep at all?
What if day and night butterflies secretly meet once the sun has disappeared?
Perhaps they gather in hidden places, far from curious human eyes.
Illuminated by the moon and twinkling stars, their wings shimmer with a magical glow—an enchanting scene that, sadly, we may never get to witness…
