Winter in Narnia socks are inspired by my walks in the forest here in Switzerland which remind me of the bewitched, snowy woods of Narnia from the Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe written by CS Lewis. These socks create a little magical snowfall for your feet with tiny snowballs included (whether you have snow where you live or not!). They are knitted in the round, worked from the cuff down using the magic loop method (but can be knit with dpn´s). They have a 1x1 ribbed cuff with a slipped stitch ribbed heel flap and gusset heel and use a simple cable pattern throughout the leg and the foot of the sock. There are little bobbles (or snow balls) placed in between them. This pattern is written for making a fingering weight with lace mohair sport weight version or just a fingering weight sock yarn version. The mohair version are the warmest, coziest pair of socks I´ve ever worn.

Sizes 1 & 2 are knit with fingering weight yarn held with mohair silk lace weight yarn. (Sportweight versions).

Sizes 3, 4 & 5 are knit with fingering weight sock yarn.
Sizes are determined by foot circumference. Foot length can be easily adjusted by knitting more or less rounds. Recommended ease: Approx. 1” / 2.5cm of negative ease.

Sport weight version (using fingering weight yarn held with mohair/silk yarn):
Size 1: 20 - 22cm / 8.5”
Size 2: 23 - 25cm / 10”

Fingering weight version (using fingering weight yarn):
Size 3: 17.5 – 19cm / 7”
Size 4: 19.5 - 22cm / 7.75”
Size 5: 22.5 - 24cm / 9”

Gauge for Sizes 1 and 2:
22 stitches and 38 rnds in 10cm/ 4” of stockinette in the round

Gauge for Sizes 3,4 and 5
32 stitches and 48 rows in 10cm / 4” of stockinette in the round.

Sample shown is in size 1 for foot size Europe 39, US 8, UK 6 with foot circumference 8.6” / 22cm.

Yarn: Giggling Gecko Socklandia sox yarn. 80% Superwash merino wool and 20% nylon in colourway Snow is falling.100g, Length: 365m /398yds (80g required) held together with The Wool Barn mohair silk lace weight in colourway Crema. (40g required)

For sizes 3, 4 & 5:

Needles Size 1 & 2: US / 2.75mm (or whatever size needed to obtain gauge). Circular needles for magic loop.
Needles Size 3, 4 & 5: US / 2.25mm (or whatever size needed to obtain gauge. Circular needles for magic loop.
