Winter Oak Cowl
Inspired by the colors of oak leaves and bark in winter, the Winter Oak Cowl is worked in the round on a circular needle with three colors of sportweight yarn. The cowl is wider at the bottom and narrower at the top.
Sizes: Shorter (Longer). The shorter version has two bands of lace; the longer version has three bands of lace.
The sample shown in the photos is the longer version.
Finished (Blocked) Measurements:
32 (36) inches/81 (91) cm circumference at bottom; 28 (28) inches/71 (71) cm circumference at top; 12.5 (17) inches/32 (43) cm deep

Longer Cowl with Three Lace Bands
Color A - 205 yards/188m sportweight yarn
Color B - 215 yards/197m sportweight yarn
Color C - 60 yards/55m sportweight yarn
The sample shown in the photos is the longer version, and was knit with Harrisville Designs FlyWHEEL, 100% sportweight wool, 170 yards/155m per 50 gr skein, in the colors Driftwood (Color A; two skeins), Monarch (Color B; two skeins), and Elm (Color C; one skein).
Needles and Notions:
--US #4/3.50mm 24-inch circular needle
--US #5/3.75mm 24-inch circular needle
--Stitch marker, 2 locking stitch markers, tapestry needle
Gauge: 18 sts/30 rnds = 4”/10 cm in stockinette stitch, after blocking
Gauge is not crucial for this design, but if your gauge differs from the pattern gauge, the dimensions of your cowl will be different as well. If you knit the cowl at a looser gauge, you may need more yarn.
