It’s finally time for the final installment of the Seasonal Selection: Winter Solstice! This textured DK pullover is the perfect winter sweater! With the snowflake collar it’s perfect for seasonal wear, but it’s also non-denominational for after the holidays, too. The snowflake designs are made in the round, and secured at the bottom with a single crochet, so there’s no sewing, and with a simple threading thru technique they lay flat!

I absolutely love winter. Making snowmen, watching the snow fall with a cup of hot coffee, and sledding! Just about the only thing I don’t like about it is the shoveling! With an almost-4-year-old, I feel like I’m enjoying the wonder of winter for the first time all over again! Another thing about this sweater is the snowflake pattern itself – It was actually rather difficult to come up with a pattern, because it was very important to me that it be six sided, since snowflakes are always hexagonal. So I was especially proud of myself when I came up with this!

You can use any DK (#3) weight yarn. I used Premier Anti-Pilling Everyday DK in Lake (MC) and White (AC). You’ll need 700-1800 yards MC, and 175-400 yards AC, depending on size. Like the others, this top is made without seaming. You start working in continuous rounds for the yoke, including the split for the body and arms. The snowflake pattern is also worked in the round, and connected back to the main body with a single crochet at the base of the snowflake as well as throughout the middle with a simple threading technique.

This lovely sweater comes in sizes Small (32”) to 5XL (60”). You will need a basic understanding of the crochet stitches chain, slip stitch, single crochet, double crochet, and half-double crochet. Special stitches, like the Star Stitch and Beginner Star and the Snowflake are explained with pictures. Extended single crochet (esc) and Dc2together cluster stitch are also fully explained.
