The Winter Wave Hat was a spontaneous project inspired by the arrival of a new family member. I used two 100g skeins of bulky weight yarn in contrasting colors. After knitting the smaller (navy) hat, there was exactly enough yarn left to make a larger hat with the remaining yarn. This project features a simple stacked stitch motif worked in 2 colors in the round.

Yarn: Solid Color - Cascade Pacific Chunky, 120 yards (110m) per 100g. Shown in color Navy.
Marled Color - Cascade Pacific Chunky Color Wave, 120 yards (110m) per 100g. Shown in color Boston.
• Small size uses 60g of solid and 30g of Color Wave.
• Large size uses 67.5g of Color Wave and 37.5g of solid.
Finished Size: 18” (20”) / 46 (51 cm) circumference at ribbing, unstretched, to fit 20-23” (23-26”) / 53-60 (61-66) cm head.
Needles: Size 8 (5mm), 10 (6mm) 16” (40 cm) circular needle, or size needed to obtain gauge.
Gauge: 14 sts and 19 rows = 4 x 4” square in stockinette stitch on larger size needles.
Other Materials: Stitch marker, tapestry needle.
