Wish Stone Pillow Set
Legend has it that if you find a rock with a continuous white line around it and you make a wish while tracing the line with your finger, your wish will come true. Inspired by their beautiful shades of gray and the contrasting white lines that encircle these special stones, Wish Stone Pillows feature a hexagonal design that incorporates continuous circles wrapping around each side.
Eight hexagon motifs worked in the round combine to create this pillow: two semi-solid hexagons make up the top and bottom, while 6 striped hexagons form the sides.
This uniquely shaped cushion comes together in three simple steps. First, six motifs are joined to a top motif. Next, adjoining motifs are seamed where they meet to form the sides. Finally, the remaining edge of the side motifs are joined to the bottom, and stuffing is added.
With simple stitches, this pattern is suitable for the confident beginner crocheter interested in learning how to join motifs to construct a 3-dimensional form.

Skill Level: Confident Beginner
Finished Measurements: 16 inches (41 cm) from point to point across widest part by 3 inches (8 cm) thick
Materials
Cascade 220 medium (CYC 4) weight 100% wool (3.53 oz/220 yds/100 g per hank):
#8400 charcoal gray, #8401 silver gray, 2 hanks each
Alternate color combination featured in tutorial:
#9491 greystone heather, #9600 antiqued heather
Size G/6/4.00mm crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge
Tapestry needle
Polyester stuffing (16 oz/454g)
Yardage Note for Set: Approximately 440 yards (7 oz/200g) of each color are required to make a set. Each pillow requires about 4 oz (115g) of the main color and 2.5 oz (70g) of the contrasting color. A set using Cascade 220 in opposing color schemes makes efficient use of the yardage. (I ended up with 0.5 oz 13g of each color leftover after making the samples.) Any worsted-weight yarn in a durable fiber, appropriate for home décor, would work well for this project.
This pattern will make 2 pillows. To make just 1 pillow instead, you will need approx. 4 oz. (115g) of main color (MC), 2.5 oz (70g) of contrasting color (CC), and 8 oz (227g) of polyester stuffing.
