Meet Withstand. The deep texture of this sweater will baffle any amount of wind and cold; and, what is more, is so stretchy that it will withstand the amazing capacity of children to outgrow less forgiving garments (larger sizes will fit adult women at 0 ease with a little extra length added).

Sizes (chest size):

Sizes are finished garment chest sizes and should feature approx. 10% ease on actual chest sizes (note that the sizes 10 and above can be easily adapted for adult women by adding length to the body and arms as required. Choose a size with zero ease on the chest and it should fit with 0 ease on the arm also. I’m sitting here in the size 10 at zero ease and with just a little extra length on the arm, making a shortish but not cropped sweater on me at 155cm tall) :

Pattern and construction
Sweater is knit flat in 4 pieces and seamed. Neck ribbing is picked up afterwards and can be worked flat or in the round as shown. Turorials are linked for cast on, seaming techniques etc. Full written instructions and also a chart for the textured st pattern.

Needles:
5 mm (US size 8) or correct needle size to achieve gauge for main body of sweater.
4 mm (US 6) needle (or needle 1-2 sizes smaller than the needle used for the sweater) for cuffs and neck ribbing.

Gauge:
Over main body pattern: 21 stitches and 26 rows to 10 cm/4 inches
Over stockinette 19 stitches and 26 rows to 10cm/4in
