Withywindle Socks
When describing Goldberry, Tolkein says, “About her feet in wide vessels of green and brown earthenware, white waterlilies were floating, so that she seemed to be enthroned in the midst of a pool.”1 And I thought, the river daughter must have it easy— dipping her toes in the forest river when she was in need of a pedicure! These socks feature an open heel and open toe with an optional thong. The pattern is fairly simple, but works well with variegated yarns. Hopefully, you’ll be able to treat your toes to water lilies sometime soon.
