The Wizard is a colourful crocheted doll with a hot cauldron that is a part of my collection of characters from two fairy tales for children.

The Wizard doll is worked in several stages. Firstly, the body is crocheted and stuffed with acrylic filling. Secondly, the head, and the nose, which is crocheted directly to the head, are made, eyes crocheted, sewn to the face and embroidered. Then, the head is finished, stuffed, and attached to the body. Next, arms and sleeves are crocheted separately, arms inserted in the sleeves and each arm-sleeve set is then sewn to the body. Following are the shoes, beard, hair and the hat. Finally, the hat is embroidered with golden thread.
The cauldron is crocheted separately. I used a free pattern for the cauldron from the net, the link for which you will find at the end of this tutorial.
With the exception of arms, which are worked with turns, all pieces are made using single crochet stitches crocheted in the round, and spirally, i.e. with no slip-stitch join at the end of every round. You can use a stitch marker to help you find the beginning and ending of each round.
