Women of Hope - Feather & Fan Scarf
This elegant scarf celebrates the grace with which women activists save lives every day. Like the cascading waves of this scarf, each word we speak for cancer awareness (or any other cause close to our hearts) ripples outward like a pebble on still water, and touches the lives of many.
This lovely scarf can be converted into a sophisticated cowl by seaming the two ends together. It can also be widened into a stole by doubling or tripling the stitch pattern, or widened further into a blanket with a heavier yarn and additional pattern repeats.
The Ravelry download version of this pattern includes two bonus tutorials with step-by-step illustrations by artist Miranda Currie and detailed instructions by the designer. Learn how to optionally begin your scarf with a row of chainless foundation stitches instead of chains, learn how to add an optional charm bead to your scarf, and learn how to apply your new beading skill to nearly any other crochet project! (These illustrated tutorials are not included in the magazine versions of this pattern, due to the publishers’ page constraints.) The Ravelry download version is available in your choice of US or UK crochet terminology.
10% of Kristen’s proceeds from the sale of this pattern will be donated to the Screening Matters campaign (www.cancercampaigns.org.uk), increasing the number of women who obtain life-saving mammograms. Let’s all encourage our friends to obtain mammograms and perform monthly self-exams (how-to at http://www.womens-health.co.uk/breast_exam.html).
