Woodland Animals Shawl
Sweet woodland animals pop out in the graphic, ever changing floral brocade pattern on this shawl.
You will love knitting up through the different animals!
This shawl is worked up in a long tube, which is then steeked, and a knit casing is worked to cover the raw steek edge. For some help on the stitching of the casing, please check out my you-tube for it here.
Yes, this is a large shawl! It is entirely possible to work it up in a smaller yarn/smaller gauge for a smaller version. You can also use this pattern to make a throw-sized (or toddler bed sized, around 4x4 ft) square blanket, using 2/3 the yarn and not working the mirrored half of the design.
The first colorway uses Capra DK, 15 skein black, and 11 cream.
The second colorway uses Wool of the Andes Sport, 13 skeins white, 3 each of Winter night, Sapphire, and Solstice, 1 semolina.
Each colorway has a separate set of charts.
In order to make this, you should know how to work knit and purl stitches, stranded colorwork, and pick up stitches. There are some longer floats in this pattern, so I don’t recommend this for a first colorwork project. When you work one of these longer floats, pause for a second to check that you didn’t pull the “floating” yarn too tight.
