Inspired by pretty village near my home in Perth, Scotland, this 18” square fair isle pillow is worked in the round before the resulting cylinder is flattened and I-cord edging is applied at the top, bottom and down the sides. Instructions are included for an optional zipper closure.

The muddy farmers’ fields of spring, seen all over rural Perthshire at this time of year, inspire the colours chosen. Five neutrals selected from Knit Picks Palette range will work well with both modern and traditional decors. Charts can be found on page 8.

Overview of design.
Woodside pillow is a square, fair isle pillow worked in five neutral shades of Knit Picks Palette.

Summary of construction.
Beginning with a provisional cast on, the pillow is knitted in the round from the bottom up. The bottom edge is seamed using the three-needle method, the pillow is put inside the pillowcase and a zip is sewn in. All edges are finished with an i-cord bind-off. Alternatively, the pillow can be enclosed without a zip.
