Wolbachia is simply amazing, with some species of this bacteria currently being used to reduce the population of mosquitoes responsible for transmitting nasty diseases, whilst others actually protect their hosts from RNA viruses like Zika and dengue and thus reduce their transmission to human populations. Hurrah!
The ButterflyLove pdf Wool-bachia (Amigurumi Wolbachia Bacteria) knitting pattern gives you clear step by step instructions to make your own little colony of bacteria.
This pattern only involves knitting flat and is suitable for a beginner knitter. You can also contact me at any point if you need technical advice or have any other queries.
What you will need:
2 knitting needles (US2/2.75mm or as per tension advice)
5-10g blue-green DK yarn (e.g. Sirdar Snuggly DK 490 ‘Aqua’)
Two black plastic toy safety eyes (6mm)
Polyfil toy stuffing
1 tapestry needle for finishing
Skills used: Casting on and off, Increasing and Decreasing
Stitches used: Stocking stitch
