Detta är en dominostickad filt med 811 rutor och en virkad kant. Jag kallar den Världskartefilt eftersom den är stickad i alla 6 färger av Opal Continents med smala ränder av blått som representerar haven som skiljer kontinenterna åt. Opal Continents är utgånget men filten kan naturligtvis göras i andra färgställningar.

Du kan naturligtvis göra den större eller mindre genom att öka eller minska antalet rutor. Kom då ihåg att garnåtgången ändras.

Garn
6200 gram av färger för själva rutorna.
250 gram blått för kanter mellan rutorna

Rutorna stickas i rätstickning. Lyft alltid den första maskan i varvet och sticka alltid den sista maskan i varvet avig. När du plockar upp maskor från tidigare rutor kommer du att ha lämpliga öglor att använda. Starta i nedre högra hörnet och sticka hela nedersta raden innan du börjar med nästa rad. Bygg alltså filten från botten och upp och från höger till vänster. Förskjut färgen på rutorna ett steg till vänster för varje rad så kommer du att få en tydlig diagonal (se foto).
Första rutan:
Starta i nedre högra hörnet med att lägga upp 69 maskor med den blå kantfärgen. Sticka ett varv. Byt till rutans färg, rätsida. Sticka 33 m (inkl den lyfta maskan i början av varvet), lyft en, sticka två tillsammans och dra den lyfta över de två tillsammans = minskning med två maskor mitt i varvet. Sticka resterande 33 maskor. (inkl den aviga i slutet av varvet). Sticka ett varv från avigsidan. Upprepa dessa två varv tills du har en maska kvar på nålen. Klipp av garnet.
Andra rutan:
Med den maska du har på nålen som första maska, byt till blått garn och plocka upp ytterligare 34 maskor längs vänster kant av den första rutan och lägg sedan upp ytterligare 34 maskor. Sticka sedan som för första rutan.
Tredje till sjunde rutan:
Som ruta 2.
Åttonde rutan: Som ruta 2 men drag garnet genom den sista maskan.
Första rutan på rad 2:
Med blått garn, lägg upp 35 maskor och plocka upp 34 maskor från överkanten på den första rutan. Fortsätt att sticka som tidigare för att göra klart rad två av filten.
Fortsätt sedan att sticka tills du har 11 rader med 8 rutor i varje.

Du har nu en filt med blå kant på två sidor. Övergå nu till virkning och öka två maskor i varje hörn. För att göra en jämn kant, börja virka halvstolpar med blått garn från det övre högra hörnet på filten tills du kommer till det nedre vänstra hörnet (=alla kanter blå). Virka sedan ett varv fasta maskor med det blå garnet. Fortsätt att virka halvstolpar runt med de 6 färgerna i samma sekvens som färgerna i första raden. När du har virkat 6 varv, virka ett varv med blått garn, fortsätt sedan med de 6 färgerna men i motsatt ordning. Avsluta med ett varv fasta maskor i blått garn. Fäst trådarna.

As this is my first attempt to write a pattern in English, please let me know if something is unclear or doesn’t work.

This is a blanket in domino knitting, made up of 118 squares and a crocheted border. I call it the World Map blanket because it’s knitted in all six colours of Opal Continents, and with blue stripes between the squares, representing the seas between the continents. Opal Continent is discontinued, but the blanket can of course be knitted in other colours.

You can of course make the blanket bigger or smaller by increasing or decreasing the number of squares. Please remember that this alters the yardage needed.

Yarn:
6200 g for the squares
250 g for the blue stripes

Knit the squares in garter stitch. Always slip the first stitch of every row and purl the last stitch in every row. When you pick up new stitches you will have suitable loops to use. Start at the bottom right corner and knit the whole row before you start with next row. Thus build the blanket from bottom to top and from right to left. Place the colours one square to the left every row and you will get diagonal lines of squares in the same colour (see photo).
First square:
Start in the bottom right corner by casting on 69 stitches with blue yarn. Knit one row. Change to the main colour of the square (right side). Knit 33 stitches (incl the slipped stitch in the beginning of the row), slip one, knit two together and lift the slipped stitch over the K2tog = decrease with two stitches in the middle of the row. Knit the remaining 33 stitches (incl the purl stitch in the end of the row. Knit next row. Repeat those two rows until you have one stitch left. Cut the yarn.
Second square:
With the last stich on your needle as the first one, change to the blue yarn and pick up 34 stitches along the left edge of the first square. Then cast on a further 34 stitches. Continue as for First square.
Third to seventh square:
As Second square,
Eight square:
As Second square but draw the yarn end through the last stitch.
First square on row two:
With blue yarn, cast on 35 stitches and pick up 34 stitches from the upper edge of the first square in the first row. Continue as earlier to complete the row.
Continue until you have 11 rows of squares with eight squares in every row.

You now have a blanket with a blue edge on two sides. Continue in crochet and increase two stitches in every corner. To even out, start to crochet (US: half double crochet, UK: half treble crochet) with blue yarn from the top right corner until the bottom left corner (= all edges blue). Continue with one row (US: single crochet, UK: double crochet). Continue to crochet (US: half double crochet, UK: half treble crochet) in the round, one row of each of the six square colours in the same order as in the first row of squares, then one row blue, then one row of each of the six square colours, but in reverse order. Finish with one row (US: single crochet, UK: double crochet) with blue yarn. Cut yarn and weave in ends.
