This pattern is a rejuvenated version of the Aran Braid Mini Tote which was published oh so long ago and is no longer available. Hope you enjoy this new version!

This little tote is an excellent way to transport all manner of small necessities – also the perfect cover for your phone.

This design begins with the flap which is knit back and forth; the body of the tote is knit in the round. The bottom is closed using a 3-Needle Bind Off. The crochet strap is optional.

Pattern Stitches
Cable patterns are both charted and written.

Pattern Notes
Choose a smooth-surface yarn for best results, a “fuzzy” yarn will obscure the texture of the cable pattern on the front. Also, a yarn with some ‘give’, like wool, will make the tight cabling of the design easier to work. If you have lots of yarn odds and ends, multiple colours would also work well for this design; simply change colours every 4 rounds when working the body.

The double-yarn-over in R5 creates a small buttonhole closure; be sure to choose a button that will fit the size of the buttonhole.
