These top-down socks feature one main color with a self-striping contrast color. You can also choose two solid colors or a solid main color with a variegated contrast color. The slip stitches create a woven check motif that is fun to knit and mesmerizing to watch as the colors transform throughout the sock. This pattern features a garter stitch heel flap and an easy to memorize pattern repeat. Simply add more pattern repeats to customize the leg and foot length or knit fewer pattern repeats for a shorter leg and foot.

Finished Measurements
6.5 (8, 9, 9.5, 10.5)″ / 17 (20, 23, 24, 27)cm leg and foot circumference. Measurements taken after blocking.

Size 4 shown on a US 13 / EU 47 size foot with an actual foot
circumference of 10″ / 25cm.

Socks are designed to fit an actual foot circumference of 7.5 (9, 10, 10.5, 11.5)″ / 19 (23, 25, 27, 29)cm. The socks are designed to fit with negative ease. Choose a size with a finished foot circumference measurement that is approximately 1″ / 2.5cm smaller than your actual foot circumference, so that the sock will fit nice and snug on your foot.

The lengths of the cuff, leg, and foot are easily customizable by knitting more pattern repeats for a longer leg or foot or fewer pattern repeats for a shorter leg or foot.

Yarn Ideas
Schoppel Wolle Zauberball Crazy is a great self-striping marled yarn. One ball of this yarn would work great for the contrast color. I recommend using a solid or semi-solid yarn for the main color to make the texture pop. For an extra colorful version, try using two different self-striping yarns, one for the MC and another for the CC. This would create explosive color shifts in the sock. Experiment with different yarn combinations and have fun!
