Wrapped in Camel
This rectangular shaped shawl is knit in approx 800/900 yards of each of the two yarns. Knitting with two different fingering weight yarns in the same color family creates a beautiful new color all its own.
This shawl is a rectangle that is knit on the diagonal using a new method I’ve been playing with.
On a circular needle and using two strands of yarn, knit one row with one color. Then instead of turning
the work around as usual, slide all the stitches to the other end of the needle and purl across all stitches with second color of yarn.
Repeat these two rows.
The resulting fabric is sort of like garter stitch and sort of like ribbing, having hills and valleys, or raised stitches and lower stitches. It’s fun to do and oh so easy.
This shawl is a rectangle knit on the diagonal using this basic pattern and yarn overs, and knitting and purling stitches together to create the shaping. The lenght and width can be very easily altered.
The wrap on Hannah is shown loosely draped in one photo and more tightly wrapped in the other.
I also created a video while making the last tassel…see how I made these tassels on YouTube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AMUG9fQfgzM
