This design can easily be worked using 2 full skeins of solid, speckled, or variegated fingering weight with high contrast, or a solid paired with a long color changing skein or a solid paired with mini skeins.

The sample was made using a solid skein paired with a set of 4 speckled mini skeins. Color 1 refers to the mini skeins and Color 2 refers to the solid. I have indicated where I changed mini skeins by using the designation MS1, MS2, MS3, MS4. However, color changes can happen wherever the mood hits you.

This is a great opportunity for you to experiment with color. You could even create your own mini’s using leftover fingering. The package used for this design consisted of 5 skeins each weighing 25 g with 115 yd/108 m. I only needed 4 to complete this project.

A note about Sequence stitch patterns: I have used a modified version for sequence knitting. In this version each row regardless of right side or wrong side begins with the same stitch pattern. At the end of each row extra stitches are worked into the pattern while retaining the 3-stitch rolled edge. This technique tends to create interesting patterns that don’t always fit the norm.

I-cord bind off is a perfect match to the 3 stitch rolled edges and creates a nice finished look; however, any stretch bind off could easily be substituted.
