This sock pattern is one of five sock patterns available in the Spring 2011 issue of Sockupied, the new digital eMag from Interweave available for download to your MAC or PC.

There are two sizes: 8” and 9” circumference at ball of foot. Fits about a women’s U.S. size 8 and women’s U.S. size 9.5-10 (YMMV).

These socks take their name from the Multnomah word for Oregon’s Mt. Hood, home of a historic lodge and ski area. The cable patterns, which are reminiscent of ski tracks, were selected by Chrissy Gardiner’s husband to ensure they appeal to guys as well as gals. Chrissy opted for cables that are symmetrical top-to-bottom so that they’re easily worked either toe-up or top-down. This pattern accompanies Chrissy’s article on heel construction, with 3 different interactive calculators so you can knit this pattern with either a short-row heel, toe-up flap, or top-down flap.
