The XO Toddler Christmas Dress knitting pattern is a great choice for someone looking to knit a festive heirloom outfit for their little one. The body is worked top-down, starting with the front panel decorated with two-color stranded colorwork.
Back stitches are cast on at the waist, and the skirt portion is knitted in the round until you reach your desired length. Then you pick up stitches on the backside for two straps, crossed at the back, and connected with two buttons at the front panel.
This pattern is for toddlers aged 18 months to 4 years, but it’s best to use height and waist measurements when choosing the correct size.

RECOMMENDED NEEDLES
US size 7 (4.5 mm) or size needed to obtain the gauge
Size down for colorwork if necessary to obtain the same gauge.
A long circular needle (32 in/80 cm), or the length you’re most comfortable using.
