Yankee Hill Hat
This is the companion hat, inspired by the cowl and fingerless mitts I designed for my sister-in-law after she gave me 3 colors of yarn to make her something with.
My sister-in-law, an incredibly skilled woodworker, but not a patient knitter, was lured by the luscious colors and softness of some yarn while visiting a LYS (to purchase a gift for me). As hard as she tried, she could not get into knitting. Knowing my passion for knitting, she asked me if I would make her something out of the yarn she got.
It was an honor to me and I told her I’d love to. Letting the colors and yarn guide me, I wanted something interesting yet not too complicated. Simple stitch patterning, slipped stitches and alternating color rows became the result.
The name is a nod to where she lives, as well as her business.
