Yarn Club Blanket Square
In 2020 I joined a blanket yarn club, not really knowing what I wanted to make - just that it had to be more portable than the full single bed size blanket I had made from knitted mitred squares the year before.
Switching to crochet, I decided to make individual squares that would be joined once all colours were known and finished. However, it would be really easy to apply a join-as-you-go approach if you wanted to join each parcel of yarn as it arrived, or were starting the project will all your yarn already in your possession.
Using back posts on alternate rounds to create interest while working, and texture (good for solid / semi solid yarns), this design can be extended to make the most of the yarn you have available. Just finish off when you no longer have enough yarn to complete a full round.
Sample is shown in 20g DK mini skeins from the Gamer Crafting 2020 blanket yarn club - 2 in each colour, and 48 squares in total. it was finished with a knitted i-cord border. (Total weight 960g (0.96 kg))
