This design is inspired by the many hours I’ve spent roaming through the aisles of great book stores. For me, a good book shop should be crammed with good reads, have that old and new book smell, and have comfy armchairs to sit and peruse what I want to purchase. My son-in-law just completed his Master’s Degree, so this is designed for his love of reading.

These socks are knit cuff down, increasing sts and changing needle size for the leg and foot to accommodate the less stretchy fabric of stranded knitting. The cuff, heel and toe are made with the smaller needles. The heel is a German Short Row Heel and the toe is grafted together.

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS: Approx. circumference in stranded, not stretched, after blocking: 7 (8, 9) inches/17.5 (20, 22.5) cm

Ways to make them your own: change the order of the ‘book shelves’, knit each ‘book shelf’ in a different colour, knit with 3 colours in a row and make your books different colours, add a contrast colour to the heel and/or toe.
