The yarn and needle combination create an almost weightless shawl that is absolutely perfect for folding and tucking away in a tote bag to take on your adventures.  
Its rectangular shape and generous length are wonderful for when you need a little warmth in air conditioned cars, planes and buildings.

Begun with a provisional cast on, this is worked from the center out with the lace edgings worked at the same time and mitered at the top corner then worked across the top as an attached edging.  The provisional cast on is carefully undone and the second half of the shawl worked.

This design can be worked in any width desired. To make a scarf, simply subtract as many stitch pattern repeats as needed for the width you want.
