PATTERN & SIZING NOTES:

  • This darling crochet baby blanket is made in 1 piece, from the bottom up, using single crochets and a bobble stitch to create the heart pattern, then the entire blanket is slip stitched around the edge to create a clean border
  • The bobble is created in the traditional way – if you are unfamiliar with how to create the bobble stitch, please refer to the following video tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P9QzJHLPkSM
  • Remember that the bobbles are created while working on the wrong side of the piece.
  • The easiest way to follow this pattern is to follow the chart enclosed, but I will also write out the written instructions below.
  • Turning chains DO count as a stitch, which means you will always skip the first stitch in each row and go directly in to the 2nd stitch, and then at the end of each row, you will place your stitch in the turning chain from the row below. The reason for this is that it gives a nice, clean edge.
  • Stitch count for each round will be indicated in parentheses ( ) at the end of the row

CUSTOMIZATION OPTIONS:

  • You can add any border of your choice by doing the edging round in my pattern as a round of single crochet instead of slip stitches, then you can build upon that round of single crochet to create any kind of border you like on this blanket.
