Skill-level: Intermediate due to cable work and careful pattern reading.
Yarn: approximately 350-400 yards (320-365m) of sock yarn; the socks pictured are a size XL and used 390 yards of Jimmy Sock by Haute Knit Yarn, in the color Susie.
Needles: US Size 1 (2.25mm) sock needles; although I recommend using magic loop, the pattern is written for either magic loop or DPNs.
Tools: Scissors, tape measure, tapestry needle
Gauge: 8 stitches and 12 rounds per inch/2.25cm, worked in stockinette stitch
Sizing: Small (Medium, Large, Extra-large) sizes measure approximately 8(9,10,11) inches or 20.3(22.8,25.4,28) cm around, leg height, ankle depth, and foot length are all adjustable to fit and preference.
Sizing note: the legs of these socks are very elastic. If in doubt or between sizes, size down.
Pattern note (IMPORTANT!): PLEASE, PLEASE, read the entire pattern before you begin, then review each section before you proceed with it; particularly the GUSSET and the FOOT sections. They are not difficult knitting, but they were complex to describe. I think it would be handy to highlight your size and needle-type instructions before you begin.
