Add a bit of old world lace to your Christmas hat this year! This hat takes on a new twist to the standard double crochet hat with fur trim. The soft fur lining peeks through a band of lace then blossoms out to a full fur trim on the hat. Even Better! Reverse the hat to show off a wide fur trim.

Designer Tips:
This hat is a breeze to work up, it only looks complicated. The use of wool yarn for the hat provides enough flexibility in shaping and sizing that only one size is needed to fit most adults.

Fur Trim: Furreal yarn in Jersey Wooly

Hook: 4.5 mm for the hat/wool
Hook: 8 mm for the fur trim/Furreal yarn

4.25 sc per inch

Pattern Notes:
The hat starts with a standard double crochet hat with a lace trim worked into the last 4 rounds. The Fur trim is added to the hat on the inside starting with the row prior to the lace trim.

The hat is loose enough that one size fits most adults. The use of wool allows for the hat to be shaped to fit. When the hat is done, hand wash is warm water. Then shape to fit the person and block to dry. The lamb’s pride wool is perfect for felting after the hat is crocheted.

Special Stitch: hdcl (Half Double Crochet Cluster): yo, insert hook as directed, yo, pull loop through 4 times in the same place, yo pull through all loops on the hook, ch 1 to close the cluster.
