Yuzu is a fingering-weight cowl perfect for wearing in the chilly mornings of fall.

It is knitted in the round with a little bit of lace and a lot of stockinette stitch, making it a relaxing pattern to knit on the couch after work, and a great project for those learning to knit lace for the first time.

It is a single-loop cowl, and requires only 1 skein of yarn. The simplicity of the design will work well with any shade of solid colour yarn from your stash.

The pattern is written for one size, but includes instructions on how to extend it to your desired size. Please note that extending the size may require additional yarn.

It also comes with both written instructions and chart for the lace pattern.

US 4 (3.5 mm) 16 inch (40 cm) circular needle
1 stitch marker

Gauge
24 stitches and 35 rows = 4 inches (10 cm) square in stockinette stitch, after blocking.

Finished size
24 inches (61 cm) circumference, 11.5 inches (29.5 cm) long.

k - knit
k2tog - knit 2 stitches together
p - purl
s2kp - slip 2 stitches together knitwise, knit 1, pass slip stitches over
ssk - slip 2 stitches knitwise, 1 at a time, knit these 2 stitches together
yo - yarn over
2x2 rib - knit 2, purl 2

In the picture above, I’m wearing the sample folded in half lengthwise to give it a more structured look, but you can also wear it un-folded for a more relaxed look. For reference, my neck circumference is 14 inches (35.5 cm).
