Zahara Lace Hat
Zahara - Greek for ‘radiance’ - is a delicate lace hat with a ribbed hem, designed to be worn as a fairly loose, slouchy style. The crown decreases are worked over stocking stitch to form a spiral pattern. It is worked in the round from the bottom up, using circular and/or double pointed needles.
The pattern is designed in a single size, to fit an average adult head with circumference approximately 56cm (22 inches). The length from the cast on edge to the crown is approximately 24cm (9 1/2 inches).
Suitable for knitters with some experience, the lace pattern is both charted and written in full.
The sample was worked using three 20g/160m mini-skeins of laceweight yarn from darker to lighter tones - but the design could also be worked in a single colour if preferred. My sample used a total of approximately 30g/240m.
There is a matching cowl design available, worked in the same yarn and lace pattern.
