In Latvian mythology Zalktis is a sacred animal carrying access to the great Wisdom and knowledge, energy of life and renewal.
The rich textured rhythm of the seamless top-down design reminds me of the traditional tales I listened to as a child.

Written pattern in English using US crochet terms.
