Zarah
The Syndicate Hats collection is a tribute to my knitting group, Strikkesyndikatet (The Knitting Syndicate). This one is for Zarah.
Zarah is our resident doctor, always ready with interesting anecdotes about the surgery rooms at the hospital. She is a thorough knitter, and would rather rip out a whole sweater or half a blanket than live with the mistakes. She is known for alternating hand dyed skeins – usually she’s alternating 3 skeins at the same time!
Apart from lovely greys, she likes red! With her light brown hair, the color also suits her very much. I think she deserves a hat in simple ribbing, spiced up with a tiny bit of lace, and a little slouchy.
The hat is worked from the brim up, starting with a tubular cast on and a ribbed brim. A structured lacy stitch pattern is featured on the hat body, making the semi solid hand dyed yarn show off its best features.
Yarn:
Manos del Uruguay Silk Blend (70% Merino, 30% Silk), DK weight, 270 meters / 300 yards per 100g, 1 skein . Colorway: “6461”.
You might suffice with one 50g skein for this hat (excluding pompom) – for the sample, I used 45g of yarn.

4 mm / US 6 circulars, 40 cm / 16 inches or longer for working magic loop.
