Zephyr Cove Scarf
This is the next pattern in the Showy Garter eBook #1.
Knitting Nuances is about tweaking knitting techniques to give them added interest. Or core and most popular “Nuance” is the Showy Decrease. It’s been most popular here on Ravelry in the Manchester Scarf, Estrellita Hat (which climber to #1 for a few hours) and the Fiftyfifty sleeveless shell in Spring Knitty 2014. So far we’ve only used it with stockinette.
Now the same concept of adding a raised decorative element has been applied to the garter stitch and the results are even more dramatic. These garter-based projects will appeal to a wide range of knitters. Yes, it’s great for newer knitters, but also for those to like to try something new and great if you’ve always wanted to learn continental style knitting. More about this in the blog post.
The Intro to Showy Garter eBook
This eBook is so much more than just a few patterns. Since I really want to you understand and incorporate these ideas into other projects, the eBook includes several pages of tutorials too. The patterns start with a series of dish cloths that you can make or just use as swatches. That’s followed by 3 different scarf patterns, the second of which is the Zephyr Cove Scarf.
eBook Features:
- The Showy Decrease on Garter stitch
- The Woven Cast On and Knotted Bind Off
- Tutorials for vertical and diagonal
- Showy lines with 4 solid dish cloths 3 more dish cloth /towel ideas with multi-colors (last photo)
- Rubicon Scarf (photo to left)
- This Zephyr Cove Scarf announced here.
- One more scarf patterns in the next two weeks
The Zephyr Cove scarf has asymmetrical vertical Showy Decrease lines that continue along the length of the scarf. The strip pattern alternates cream with a gray neutral and two deeper colors in an 18 stripe repeat.
The Acadia yarn is a yummy Merino/Baby Alpaca/Silk but any smooth DK weight yarn with good drape will work.
There is a lot more information about the eBook in the series of 5 blog posts about it. They start off here.
