Ziazan
Ziazan is an Armenian given name meaning “rainbow”. This design is a deeper dive into color with simple shaping as seen originally in the Brimfield scarf. You will be working a pattern repeat consisting of a series of alternating increases and decreases in two different scales (it’s simpler than it sounds!). It’s an enjoyable, memorable pattern with satisfying results.
The rapid color changes of the minikins keep it all interesting and engaging. If you choose to pick your own colors, I recommend picking balls that have a strong contrast in the end colors to emphasize the stripe at each ball change.
Finished size approximately 68” long and 13.5” wide.
Knit at 24 sts and 30 rows over 4″ in pattern stitch, before blocking.
Shown in assorted Superwash Shaniko Sport Minikins in 9 colors (see our Ziazan Kit page for specific colors shown here), 1 ball each.
Suggested Needle Size US7 – 4.5mm and a tapestry needle for finishing.
Required Skills: Knit, purl, increasing and decreasing.
Notions: Tapestry needle
