A really sweet pram blanket which is a great way to use up scraps of variegated or solid yarns.

You could use a more limited palette and switch between fewer colours or knit more pattern rows in the same colour for wider chevrons.

The finished blanket measures 54cm x 66cm but you could make it any size.

You could adapt the needle size depending on how tightly knit you prefer the finished item. I used 4.5mm as I wanted a looser look and I had varying thicknesses of sock yarn, but for a tighter knit, move down a needle size to 3.5mm. The finished blanket will be smaller.

Another option would be to knit the border in the same colour of the zigzags as you go along.

Or you can hold 4 ply sock yarn doubled up and use one strand of preceeding colour and one strand of next colour in between solid colours to blend them together in a sort of gradient.

It could be easily adapted to become a scarf or a larger blanket.

I used a selection of sock weight yarn including Skein Queen, Koigu, Socks That Rock and other hand-dyed yarns. You could use any yarns of the same weight. It’s a great pattern for using up odd bits of yarn or mini skeins.

I only used a very small amount of each, enough for four rows, though you will need a larger quantity of the colour which forms the border and is knitted in garter stitch.

Border uses 50m (55 yards) of sock weight yarn.
There are 42 stripes.
The finished blanket weighs 140g.
