Is there anything cuter than a baby in a handknitted hat? A baby AND a toddler in handknitted hats! These hats let you personalise with favourite colours above and below the black and white chevron stripes; perfect for having a similar look without being too matching.

Design
The hats are worked flat, and are seamed when finished – an edge st is worked as a seam allowance. Only two colours are used at any one time, so they are an ideal introduction to bold colourwork. The pattern was first published in the UK magazine ‘Your Knitting & Crochet’ and a colourwork chart and written instructions are provided.

Yarn
Fingering or 4 ply weight yarn in 4 colours. Sample shown worked in Blue (MC1), Black, White & Peach (MC2) (Baby size) and Yellow (MC1), Black, White and Red (MC2) (Toddler size) acrylic or polyester yarn. 80m/88yds of each colour used. One skein of black and white is plenty for working stripes on both hats. The hats are ideal for stashbusting, as only small amounts of yarn are needed, and the black and white stripes allow for any combination of colours above and below them.

Notions
Tapestry needle/Knitter’s sewing needle for weaving in ends
