ABOUT THE PATTERN AND DESIGN
Worked top-down, this Tunisian crochet hood has a visually striking stitch pattern created by alternating stitches and strategic color changes. The hood can be worked with any odd-number of yarn colors, but 3 or 5 colors work best. The design looks more complicated than it seems, but this pattern is not recommended for beginners.

You should know how to Tunisian crochet, read a crochet pattern, make a gauge swatch and measure the gauge correctly, change colors, work along the edge of a row, increase, and work ribbing around an edge. All other techniques are explained in the pattern.

SIZING
This pattern comes with instructions for 2 sizes: Adult Medium (Adult Large). The adult medium fits head circumferences of 20-23 in 51-58.5 cm, and the adult large fits head circumferences of 23-26 in 58.5-66 cm.

MATERIALS
Yarn: Manos del Uruguay Alegria
445 yds 410 m / 3.5 oz 100 g held with Manos del Uruguay Cabrito
230 yds 210 m / 0.9 oz 25 g
(other suggested yarns include Cascade Yarns Heritage, Universal Yarns Uni Merino, or Scheepjes Metropolis held with Drops Kid Silk, Knitting for Olive Soft Silk Mohair, or Valley Yarns Southampton)
Hook: J/6 mm Tunisian crochet hook with a
20 in 50 cm cable or any other hook needed to obtain the gauge and a H/5 mm regular crochet
hook for the ribbing
Other: Darning needle, scissors, and a tape measure

AMOUNT OF YARN NEEDED
Note that each of the ribbing sections (bottom ribbing and face ribbing) use about 15% of the total amount of yarn, and the remaining 70% of the yarn is used in the main body of the hood. The quantities listed below are for the entire hood.
